We need your help!
Tuesday, 21 March 2006

It's been 8 months since FS Station was officially released. During this time, I've been working hard to bring you the most recent Flight Simulator news and the most complete content you can find on the web. It's not an easy task to constantly monitor 40 flightsim websites, choose the most relevant news, write the news article and finally illustrate it - I also need to find time to write the tutorials/reviews, study and sleep.

Although I add new content as frequently as possible, I've found that we need more than that to catch up with the huge flightsim communities out there. I really want this site to grow big, and I finally realized that the only way I could achieve that is with YOUR help. If you have some free time on your hands, if you love flight simulators and if you would like to help this community to grow --- volunteer to be an official FS Station publisher!

I basically need people to help me write news, tutorials and reviews. You not only help FS Station as a community, but you also receive free payware products to test and review. It's a nice way to have the latest products in the market - you just need some free time in your hands. If you write well and write quality content, I can guarantee that you'll love this job.

Interested? E-mail me at fsstation(at)fsstation.com with your details!

Alaska Cinematic 2 by Georender released!
Monday, 20 March 2006

The Georender team released today a second volume of the popular Alaska Cinematic photographic scenery. Alaska Cinematic 2 doubles the size of the area flyable in Volume 1. It covers the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge plus the adjoining mountains, lakes and marshes. All portrayed in the characteristic Georender detail with the highest possible resolutions and vivid textures. This new volume contains no less than 22 airports plus hundreds of landable lakes, and small bodies of water.

Combined with the previous volume, it features almost 50 airports in an area of just over 20,000km². Also included is a free update to the scenery textures, now employing the latest processing techniques to add further realism to the Anchorage Metropolitan Area. Alaska Cinematic 2 is available for EUR 20.00 (download version) - Alaska Cinematic Volume 1 is required for the expansion to work correctly!

Cloud9 released today the first set of preview screenshots of their upcoming scenery, Los Angeles International (KLAX). The product is in advanced development stage and, from now, cloud9 will publish new screenshots and details every few days. This high quality project has been developed to reach two important goals: the maximum quality and detail level allowed by Flight Simulator and the minimum possible impact on the frame rate. The cloud9 Los Angeles International (KLAX) scenery is developed based on real ground and in-flight pictures and features photographic terrain textures, highly detailed buildings and runways, animations and special effects, realistic night effects and many other goodies. PMDG 747-400F CARGO Released!
Sunday, 19 March 2006

Possibly one of the most antecipated flight sim add-ons of the year, the PMDG 747-400F CARGO, has been released today! Due to the high popularity of this  variant, PMDG has decided to create a dedicated product to bring this cargo airliner to life -- now you can fly with a highly detailed representation of this versatile freighter to anywhere in the world. Included in the package are the 747-400F (GE, RR and PW engines) and a bonus YAL-1A Model (U.S. Air Force Airborne Laser variant with detailed telescope and other special modifications).

Although it is based on the 747-400 Queen of the Skies, the 747-400F CARGO features a new visual model and updated systems to reflect those of the real aircraft. In this new model, there are new LCD displays, digital MCP readouts, a compact standby gauge, a cargo load manager and a flight database. Details such as palette loader, rear-fuselage load support, opening cargo doors and air stairs also help recreating the cargo loading procedures with realism. The PMDG 747-400F CARGO is priced at $29.95 and available via download only. The base package needs to be purchased and installed for the expansion to work correctly!
